About DSS

About Daily Scheduled Suffering

Daily Scheduled Suffering is a discipline system for adults doing hard things on purpose.

It began through endurance training and ultra running, where I learned that suffering can be scheduled, repeated, tracked, and refined. Today, that same philosophy is being applied to classical guitar, daily practice, work, training, and long-term personal growth.

I am not presenting perfection. I am documenting the work: repertoire, technique, practice sessions, progress, setbacks, and the discipline behind adult mastery.

DSS is about scheduling the hard thing, doing the honest rep, and refining the process over time.

Why Classical Guitar?

Classical guitar demands patience, precision, tone, rhythm, memory, interpretation, and daily attention to detail.

Progress is slow, honest, and earned.

That makes it the perfect place to test the DSS philosophy: discipline over motivation, process over perfection, and repeated work over talent mythology.

Ultra running taught me that suffering can be scheduled. Classical guitar is teaching me that discipline has to be refined, not just endured.

What DSS Documents

This site follows the real process of adult classical guitar development while connecting that process to the larger DSS discipline system.

It documents repertoire work, technique practice, recording, grade progress, long-form pieces, practice systems, and the reality of building skill later in life.

The goal is not to pretend the journey is easy. The goal is to show the work clearly and consistently.

The Mission

DSS exists to help adults build discipline through scheduled effort, honest reps, and long-term refinement.

The long-term goal is to create tools, planners, practice systems, and community resources for adults who want more structure, accountability, and steady progress.

Classical guitar is the current lab. The system is bigger than guitar.
